More Telling Stories, Compelling Stories
Storytelling the Word

The above four books contain over 130 story-homilies that cover the three cycles of the liturgical years. The fourth book (Storytelling the Word) contains an index according to season, year (ABC), scripture and which book the found in. All are published by Twenty-Third Publications.

William Bausch has more books than I have listed here, but I am not familiar with them, so I have not included them.

Hunt, Angela Elwell

The Tale of Three Trees. A very tellable folk tale about a wish coming true in a surprising way.

Mains, David and Karen

Tales of the Kingdom, Chariot Books, 1983.
Tales of the Resistance, Lamplighter Publishing, 1986.
Tales of the Restoration, Chariot Books, 1996.

Allegorical tales of the Christian journey. Sometimes compared to The Chronicles of Narnia or Pilgrim’s Progress. With adaptations, I have used them with great success in retreat and healing story work.

Not Counting Women and Children: Neglected Stories from the Bible Parables

Megan McKennas’s books are written from a social justice perspective and deal with scripture stories in a narrative fashion. The books with * are packed with stories. The other books have occasional stories interspersed with reflections from her comprehensive study of scripture. All of her books are published by Orbis. Megan McKenna has published more books than I have listed. These are the ones I am familiar with, and have found helpful.
